A former jazz dancer, Marcia Carr aka Marcia DaVinylMC is a woman of many talents – which aptly describe the long standing club DJ and co-radio presenter of shows on Ministry Of Sound and Colourful radio, who’s also a member of the London based Ladyzâ„¢ DJ collective.
Her club DJ sets of deeper, soulful, jazzy style encompassing tech house, Afro, gospel house, disco, broken beat, nu jazz and dubstep have also featured on air of a variety of radio stations as far flung as Singapore and Sri Lanka to a host of European neighbours – Estonia, Finland, Norway, Luxembourg, Greece, Ireland, Switzerland, Scotland plus venues like the Ministry Of Sound radio alongside the likes of Bob Sinclair, David Morales and MAW. Invitations to spin around the world have continued to find favour and appreciation for Marcia gaining new fans everywhere she goes. Having spun with some honorary names over the years that include Kerri Chandler, Phil Asher, Paul ‘Anderson, Frankie Valentine, Norman Jay MBE, Larry Heard, Jeremy Newall, Seamus Haji, Teddy Douglas (The Basement Boys), Marc Mac (4Hero), Ricky Morrison, Bert Bevans, DJ Paulette, Kev Beadle, Johnny Reckless, Jazzie B, Cosmo, Rachel Aubern and many others. On a night off Marcia still has a yearning to take to the dance floor – she’s definitely a girl about town always supporting the underground electronic dance scene.
Fitting in journalist contributions also to I-DJ, Soulm8online and the Soul Survivors dance magazines, Marcia Carr also runs music PR / Artist agency company Talking Music Productions, hosts many different events, is involved with studio production and remix work, she has also provided independent music consultancy to many organisations and illustrate exactly why she is a tour de force, she is very much in demand around the world.
Saturday 26th November
With very special guests…
Kerri Chandler (Mad House / Circo Loco)
Zaki & Manish (Muak)
On Saturday 26th November, one of London’s finest house parties, Muak, celebrates 8 years of music with a very special party. Welcoming back a selection of amazing guests who make up the Muak family, this is set to be one incredible session…
Taking centre stage is Muak friend and very special guest, Kerri Chandler. A man who needs little introduction, Kerri has been smashing it for quite a while. He’s continued to find the right balance of staying with his roots and exploring new sounds, and this year he found a fresh audience with his residency for the Circo Loco crew, and has been one of 2011’s most in demand djs. He smashed the last Muak event, we can’t wait to welcome him and his box of tricks to the birthday…
And finally, Muak co-conspirers and hosts, Zaki and Manish, will be keeping the candles burning.
It’s been a crazy 8 years with events taking place at large 2500 venues through to intimate warehouse gatherings. Staying true to the house sound, Muak has never verged to follow the trend. 2011 also witnessed the launch of the Muak label, of which the first releases have gone down a storm. There are plenty more surprises and plans in store for both the label and parties, roll on 2012…
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Muak’s 8th birthday will unfortunately no longer be taking place at Egg club. Never ones to be deterred, we set about sourcing a new venue suitable for such a special occasion. We succeeded and have managed to secure a warehouse in a secret east London location, that is of course, powered by the mighty Funktion One.
Capacity will now be reduced to 400 so this will now be a much more intimate affair. With this is mind, especially as Kerri Chandler will still be headlining, we have decided to keep this a ticket and guestlist affair only.
All current ticket sales are still valid.
If you have any more questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
The venue will be announced on the day to all attendees and you can check this live URL for an announcement – http://f.twi.to/br7X
We hope you can join us on the 26th and thanks for all your continued support! xx

It’s the first time that Gilles and Louie have played together in years and in honour of the occasion, Louie has pieced together a special Nuyorican Soul x Havana Cultura DJ mix to set the vibe up right. Check it!
Gilles Peterson brings the heartbeat of Havana’s music underground to Brixton for one special night only. Celebrating the latest installment in his Havana Cultura album series, Gilles imports an all-star Cuban live band to inject some authentic Latin flavour and showcase the full spectrum of raw Cuban rhythms, and recruits a heavy line-up of DJ talent to maintain the heat long into the night.
Continuing his longstanding love affair with Cuba and its musical melting pot, globetrotting DJ/broadcaster Gilles Peterson is back with a new chapter in his Havana Cultura album series – producing an original studio album and lovingly curating a compilation of new Cuban talent.
Having spent the last three years travelling regularly to Havana I’ve understandably become more attached to this fascinating, almost otherworldly city. I’m also slowly getting to grips with the relationship music has here with the spirits and its people… the drum goes deep.
